On January 15th, 1919, Boston was struck by a disaster unlike any other. A massive tank filled with syrup burst open in the city's North End, unleashing a wave of sticky sweetness that swept through the streets like a tsunami. The flood, website reaching heights 25 feet in some areas, was catastrophic. Homes and businesses crumbled under the weight of the treacherous goo.

The aftermath was tragic. Twenty-one people lost their lives, and many more suffered injuries. The flood also caused ruin to property, leaving a trail of molasses carnage in its wake.
